Choose hunting clothing around the weather, your activity and the coverage you need. A ghillie or leafy suit adds camouflage over your clothing; check the specific product before relying on it for rain, wind or cold-weather protection.
Start with clothing suited to the conditions
Think about the temperature, forecast, length of your outing and how much you will move. Check the clothing manufacturer's instructions for fit, layering and weather protection. Allow room for the layers you intend to wear when selecting camouflage sizing.
Match camouflage to the surroundings
Compare the vegetation, background and season at the place you will use the suit. Our Color Options guide explains camouflage colors and the differences between the jute patterns we spray and the pre-dyed thread supplied in kits and synthetic Stalker suits.
Choose the coverage you need
- Jacket and pants: separate garments provide a different fit and movement experience from a one-piece design.
- Full poncho: hanging thread provides coverage over field clothing.
- Stalker: the open front is designed around lying down and crawling.
- Tracker: upper-body coverage leaves the legs free.
- Leafy suit: three-dimensional leaf shapes provide an alternative to hanging ghillie thread.

Compare weight and fit on the product page
Jute is heavier than the synthetic thread used in our ultra-light Stalker. The current synthetic Stalker is listed at 4 pounds, compared with 6 pounds for the jute Stalker. Other designs and sizes have their own specifications, so do not apply those weights to every suit.
Check height, waist and garment measurements where provided. For a bow-hunting jacket, choose the appropriate left- or right-hand model and check bowstring clearance with your normal layers.
Keep product claims specific
Do not assume that camouflage is waterproof, scent-free, fireproof or infrared-invisible. Use the specifications and care instructions for the product you choose. Follow any applicable hunting visibility requirements for your location.
